Elise Campbell – Program Administrator Elise is a Program Administrator for MDC’s Rural Prosperity and Investment team, joining the team in October 2023. With a passion for contributing to progressive social action related to racial and gender equity and enhancing community membership, they provide internal and external support through program organization, evaluation, and relation assistance. Lori Kramer – Human Resources Manager Lori joined MDC in 2023 as our Human Resources Manager, responsible for all the functional areas of Human Resources including recruiting, benefits, onboarding, legal compliance, employee relations and compensation. Lori is a growth-focused Human Resources leader with over 20 years of experience in a variety of industries. Sam Skardon – Director of Development Sam has dedicated his career to economic mobility, empowerment, and justice in the American South. As Development Director at MDC, he is responsible for cultivating, expanding, and deepening relationships among individuals who invest in MDC’s programs and operations. Prior to joining MDC, Sam served as the Director of Development and operations at the CLIMB Fund, a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) based in Charleston, SC. Kamilah A. Pickett – Director, Race Matters Institute Kamilah is Director of the Race Matters Institute at MDC (RMI). Kamilah leads the social entrepreneurial work of RMI, which offers customized training, technical assistance, coaching, and product development to advance concrete actions in both operations and programming that strengthen an organization’s mission performance. RMI focuses specifically on promoting racial equity in organizational strategies, policies, and practices as a complement to the work of others who focus on racial equity at the individual and interpersonal levels. Kamilah and RMI joined MDC in 2023. Join us in welcoming Elise, Lori, Sam and Kamilah to MDC! Their diverse backgrounds and unwavering dedication will undoubtedly contribute to our continued efforts to advance equity and promote economic mobility. | State of the South Webinar: Expanding Medicaid in the South January 18 at 11am Please join us on Thursday, January 18 at 11 am for a virtual event on the effort to advocate strategically for Medicaid expansion in the South. Since 2014, the federal government has offered substantial funding to states that agree to expand Medicaid, closing the coverage gap between those who qualify for subsidized health insurance and those who can afford market-rate health insurance. As of December 2023, 40 states and the District of Columbia have adopted Medicaid expansion, and 10 states have not. Of those 10 holdouts, 7 are in the South. Read More → |
